gsi, gha, cho — participles with barely a ge-

The rule

ge- becomes g-: gmacht, gseit, gsi (gewesen, been), gha (gehabt, had). Before k/ch, p, t and g it disappears: cho (gekommen), kauft (gekauft), trunke (getrunken), gange (gegangen).

Where it catches you

With no simple past, every past tense hangs on a participle like these. «cho» and «gsi» look like no German word — learn the common ones as words, not as a rule.
